The National Energy Regulatory Authority (ANRE) has approved the National Natural Gas Transmission System (SNT) Development Plan for 2024–2033, updated for 2025, said Transgaz in a BVB statement.

Major infrastructure projects are underway to boost the capacity and security of the National Natural Gas Transmission System (SNT). Key plans include modernising the Podișor and Bibești Compressor Stations to increase transport capacity for supplying natural gas to the combined cycle power plants at Mintia, Ișalnița, and Turceni, alongside local consumers.

Capacity will be further enhanced in Western Romania by amplifying the Jupa Compressor Station and building a new transport pipeline on the NT Recaș - NT Horia route to improve supply security. Critically, the Southern Transport Corridor is being developed to take over natural gas from the Black Sea coast.

Other initiatives cover infrastructure development in Northwestern Romania, increasing capacity on the Romania-Bulgaria interconnection (Eastring-Romania section), and modernising the Isaccea 2 and Negru Vodă 2 Metering Stations to allow bidirectional flow on pipelines T2 and T3.

Finally, new monitoring, control, and data acquisition systems, including the expansion of the SCADA system, will be implemented for better management of the SNT and its cathodic protection stations, while the SNT is also set for interconnection with the Black Sea LNG Terminal.
