Romanian private healthcare network MedLife is investing €3 million in genetic testing and will launch a large-scale genetic testing program, making whole human genome sequencing (WGS) widely available in Romania for the first time.
As part of the program, MedLife is onboarding the most advanced Illumina sequencing equipment, NovaSeq X Plus.
The Illumina NovaSeq X Plus, utilized by leading global centers like the Broad Institute, is capable of processing 2.5 times more human genomes than its predecessor.
Mihai Marcu, CEO & Chairman of the Board MedLife Group, said: "We aim to build a model through which personalized medicine becomes truly possible, and genetic testing—as a key element in this ecosystem—becomes accessible, relevant, and integrated into everyday life for as many Romanians as possible."
This technology will enable rapid and precise analysis of the entire human genome, providing individuals with tailored medical recommendations and lifestyle advice for early disease prevention and health optimization.
