Coca-Cola has announced new leadership changes within the company. Luisa Ortega will assume the role of President of the Europe Operating Unit starting September, succeeding Nikos Koumettis, who is set to retire in 2026 after a 25-year career with the company.
Ortega joined Coca-Cola in 2019 and currently serves as President of the Africa Operating Unit, overseeing a complex portfolio spanning 54 markets.
In her new role, Ortega will report directly to Henrique Braun. Her successor as President of the Africa Operating Unit will be announced at a later date.
Braun, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, The Coca-Cola Company, stated: "Her valuable international experience will make a significant contribution to strengthening Europe's position as one of the company's most important operating units.”
She brings over 14 years of experience from SC Johnson, with leadership roles in Europe, the United States, and the Asia-Pacific region.
Koumettis will remain with Coca-Cola until February 28, 2026, as a Senior Advisor and will join the Board of Directors of Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages. He took the helm of the Europe Operating Unit when it was established in 2021.
Koumettis, who joined Coca-Cola in 2001, has overseen operations in more than 100 countries during his career.
