The Competition Council is currently reviewing the acquisition of FrieslandCampina Romania Holding and, indirectly, FrieslandCampina Romania, by Bonafarm Zrt..
FrieslandCampina Romania is a major producer and distributor of a wide range of dairy products, including milk drinks, cheese, cream, and butter, and operates two production facilities.
The company's well-known brand, Napolact, is a market leader in several segments.
Bonafarm Group is a vertically integrated agri-food company with operations across CEE. The Hungarian group already has a presence in the local market, where it sells dairy products from Hungary through its subsidiary, Sole Mizo Romania.
The transaction must be approved by the Competition Council to ensure it aligns with fair market practices and does not harm the competitive environment, as per the provisions of Competition Law (No. 21/1996).
