Siemens is set to bolster its presence in Romania with the development of a fully digitalised, carbon-neutral production facility in Sibiu.
The project, secured through a strategic partnership facilitated by CBRE Romania and developer WDP, represents an investment valued at tens of millions of euros.
The new factory, situated in Sibiu's western industrial zone, is scheduled for completion by 2028. Designed as a benchmark for the Romanian industrial market, the facility will integrate advanced technologies including Digital Twins, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and the Internet of Things (IoT). Production processes will be entirely data-driven, featuring full automation and the deployment of autonomous robots (AGVs).
Călin Badea, Senior Consultant | Industrial & Logistics at CBRE Romania, said: "Sibiu reasserts its strength as an industrial hub, and the new Siemens production facility stands as a powerful testament to the region's potential." He noted that the leasing volume in Sibiu tripled between 2023 and 2025 compared to the previous period, reflecting a surge in demand from industrial and logistics tenants.
The facility is engineered for high sustainability, operating as a zero-emission site powered by photovoltaic panels and smart natural lighting. Beyond technical innovation, the project emphasizes social impact through specialized training spaces designed to cultivate a highly skilled local workforce.
