Romanian agribusiness compant Norofert has signed an agreement to acquire a 60% stake in Expert Agribusiness, a local seed producer with indigenous genetics based in Fundulea, Călărași County.
The transaction is valued at €100,000, to be paid in full by December 2026.
Expert Agribusiness has been active for over 20 years in seed research and production, holding more than 17 patents for corn, sunflower, wheat and barley. The company operates a modern line for conditioning, selection, treatment and packaging of seeds, along with a dedicated team for seed research and multiplication. Expert Agribusiness closed 2024 with a turnover of RON 9.6 million (€1.88 million) and a net profit of RON 0.25 million (€49,050).
The acquisition consolidates Norofert's activity on the Romanian market, extending its client portfolio towards small and medium farmers, for whom seeds with Romanian genetics offer the best results. With a sales team of 8 people, Expert Agribusiness also brings a new market for Norofert's products, while its portfolio comes as a natural complement to the technological packages that the company addresses to farmers in Romania and Moldova.
The synergy generated at the level of Norofert's business lines extends to the farm in Zimnicea, where the production of seed lots that will supply the production line in Fundulea will be moved, reducing costs for the obtained seeds.
"The acquisition of the majority stake in Expert Agribusiness marks an important strategic step in consolidating Norofert as an integrated platform of agricultural solutions for Romanian farmers," said Vlad Popescu, Chairman of the Board of Directors at Norofert. "By integrating Romanian genetics into our portfolio, we complete the technological offer addressed to small and medium farmers and create the premises for long-term collaboration based on local value and innovation."
