Romanian businesses continue to face financial difficulties, with insolvency cases reaching 985 in November 2025, according to financial analysis platform Risco. This represents a 46.5% increase compared to November 2024, when just over 670 cases were recorded.

Bucharest registered 213 insolvency cases in November 2025, marking a 34% increase from 159 cases in November 2024. The consistent growth in insolvencies suggests companies are struggling to cover total expenses due to reduced revenues, increased operational costs, or inefficient financial management.

Vaslui county showed the largest increase, jumping from just 2 cases in November 2024 to 32 cases in November 2025. Sibiu followed with an increase from 7 to 21 cases. Other counties showing significant growth included Bihor with 61 cases (126% increase) and Argeș with 32 cases (129% increase).

The restaurant sector experienced the strongest pressure over the past 12 months, with insolvency cases rising 208%. Construction-related activities also showed significant increases, with electrical and technical installations up 163% and residential and non-residential building construction up 94%.
