Romanian gas transmission company and its Serbian peer JP Srbijagas have signed a Memorandum of Understanding for the construction of two crucial natural gas pipeline projects.
The first project involves the construction of a new natural gas transmission pipeline connecting Romania's BRUA gas transmission pipeline with the Mokrin Technological Node in Serbia. The second project focuses on the Mokrin-PCG Banatski Dvor-Pančevo-Belgrade Southern gas pipeline.
"The construction of the Romania-Serbia interconnection is of major strategic importance for both countries, especially in the current energy context, in terms of the necessity to diversify supply sources, increase security of gas supply, balance supply and demand and facilitate cross-border gas transportation operations between relevant EU and non-EU Member States and third countries," according to a Transgaz press release.
The executives of both companies have agreed to jointly prepare and present a detailed plan for these projects in September of this year.
