Local green energy developer Monsson and battery maker Prime Batteries have signed a memorandum of cooperation for the supply of 1,070 MWh of batteries.

Monsson plans to utilise these batteries in its existing projects in Romania and Europe, including those already contracted by third parties and current projects in Sweden.

Sebastian Enache, Head of M&A at Monsson, said: “We aim to provide flexibility services to the Romanian and European markets, using safe, European technology—both in terms of equipment delivery and cybersecurity, which is critically important today for these vital installations in the national energy system.”

Vicenţiu Ciobanu, CEO of Prime Batteries, said the company "will support the programme with competitive technologies, predictable delivery times, and full lifecycle services, to increase grid flexibility and accelerate the energy transition."

The batteries are manufactured at the company's plant in Cernica, near Bucharest.
