Romania's final electricity consumption fell by 0.7% in the first 11 months of 2025 compared to the same period in 2024, according to data published by the National Institute of Statistics (INS).
Primary energy resources increased by 4.2%, while electricity resources rose by 5% compared to the same period in 2024. Primary energy resources totalled 31.014 million tonnes oil equivalent (toe), an increase of 1.237 million toe year-on-year.
Domestic production reached 15.088 million toe, down 2.5%, while imports were 15.926 million toe, up 11.4%. Electricity resources totalled 63.236 billion kWh, an increase of 3.036 billion kWh.
Thermal power plant production was 15.561 billion kWh, down 1.1% compared to the first 11 months of 2024, while hydroelectric production was 11.001 billion kWh, 18% below the reference period. Nuclear power production increased by 1.3% to 10.024 billion kWh.
Wind power production decreased by 209.5 million kWh to 5.403 billion kWh, while solar energy from photovoltaic installations increased to 4.438 billion kWh. Final electricity consumption in the economy and public lighting each fell by 1.1%, while household consumption rose by 0.4%.
