Rețele Electrice Romania, part of the PPC group, has launched a tender worth up to RON 59 million (€12 million) for secondary stations in precast concrete enclosures. The equipment will be used in investment projects between 2026 and 2030.

The company will purchase secondary stations equipped with 24 kV medium voltage equipment, integrated into compact "Minibox" solutions for modernising and expanding the electricity distribution network. The equipment comes pre-assembled from the factory, reducing installation times and increasing system reliability while optimising space at distribution points.

The investment is part of the network development programme aimed at increasing distribution capacity, facilitating integration of new energy sources and connecting new consumers amid rising electricity demand. It also contributes to increasing infrastructure reliability and resilience against climate change and new consumption needs from urbanisation and decentralised production.

"We continue to invest in modernising and expanding the electricity distribution network to respond to increased consumer demand, facilitate integration of new energy sources and support connection of new users," said Mihai Peşte, General Director of Rețele Electrice Romania. The tender deadline is 25 May 2026, with the contract lasting 48 months.

To encourage sustainable practices, bidders with documented ISO 14040 procedures will receive additional points in technical bid evaluation. Rețele Electrice Romania operates 136,000 kilometres of networks across Muntenia Sud (including Bucharest), Banat and Dobrogea, covering one-third of the local distribution market.
