TechAngels names new President

The TechAngels Board has appointed Ana Maria Andronic as President for a mandate lasting until next year's internal elections.

In her new role, Andronic will contribute to developing the association as a platform for angel investments, focusing on solid investment opportunities, better-prepared founders, investor collaboration and strengthening ties with the entrepreneurial ecosystem.

Andronic was elected as a board member last year and has been active in Romania's startup ecosystem for over 15 years. She co-founded Venture Connect, Romania's first initiative facilitating tech startup investments, and has been an active angel investor since 2010. Her profile combines investment experience with intellectual property expertise and practical involvement in investment rounds and known exit transactions from the tech startup sector.

"I have seen TechAngels in action from many perspectives: members who have had numerous late-night discussions with founders, some have made introductions and connections that truly changed companies' trajectories, others have openly shared lessons learned, and most importantly, many have supported people long before anyone else believed in them," Andronic said.

"Being a community of investors, our mission is to create solid investment opportunities and significant returns. This means companies better prepared for financing, more capital attracted to the community, quality deal flow and results that inspire the next generation of founders and investors," she added.

Andronic's appointment follows the board's decision after Marius Istrate, the previous president, took on new responsibilities at investment fund 3VC. These responsibilities no longer allow him to serve as president, though Istrate will continue contributing to the association as a board member.

TechAngels is the most experienced angel investor group and one of the most active communities in Romania and the CEE region, bringing together over 130 entrepreneurs, executives and experienced professionals who invest capital, time and expertise in technology startups. The association has contributed over €40 million in investments over the past decade with a portfolio of over 270 startups.
