More than 13% of businesses in the EU used AI during 2024, while companies in Romania fall below this average, according to a European Commission report on digitalization.
Across the EU economy, the most used AI technology was performing analysis of written language (7%), followed by generating written or spoken language (5%) and converting spoken language into machine-readable format (5%).
While the use of AI technologies was highest in Denmark (28%), followed by Sweden and Belgium (both 25%), the lowest shares were recorded in Romania (3%), Poland, and Bulgaria (both 6%).
The report further finds that 12% of businesses in Romania provided tech training to their staff in 2024 compared to the EU average of 22.3%.
At the same time, Romania had 2.8% of total employees in the tech sector versus the EU average of 5%.
