The volume of construction works increased by 9.7% in the first eight months of 2025 compared to the similar period in 2024, according to the gross series data from the National Institute of Statistics (INS). When adjusted for the number of working days and seasonality, the volume rose by 9.8%.
Overall, the gross series volume of construction works grew by 9.7%. This increase was primarily driven by significant rises in capital repair works (+50.4%) and new construction works (+7.0%). Conversely, maintenance and current repair works saw a slight decrease of 2.7%.
By construction object, all sectors recorded growth: engineering structures (+11.8%), residential buildings (+10.1%), and non-residential buildings (+5.5%).
The volume of construction works, as a series adjusted for the number of working days and seasonality, rose by 9.8%. Breaking this down by type of work, capital repair works surged by 48.7%, and new construction works increased by 7.8%. However, maintenance and current repair works decreased by 5.2%.
By construction, the increases were more pronounced in engineering structures (+13.0%), followed by residential buildings (+8.7%), and non-residential buildings (+3.8%).
In August 2025, compared to July 2025, the volume of construction works fell sharply across the board. The gross series registered an overall decline of 24.7%, with decreases seen in all work types: maintenance and current repair works (a drop of -30.6%), capital repair works (a drop of -25.7%), and new construction works (a drop of -22.6%).
By object of construction, the monthly decline was recorded in residential buildings (-26.0%), engineering structures (-25.0%), and non-residential buildings (-23.2%).
The volume of construction works, when adjusted for the number of working days and seasonality, decreased by 26.2%.
The steepest drops were in maintenance and current repair works (-27.7%), followed by capital repair works (-24.3%), and new construction works (-18.3%).
