New car registrations in Romania increased by 4.7% in 2025 year-on-year, reaching 155,855 units, according to preliminary data released by the Association of Car Producers and Importers in Romania (APIA) based on DGPCI statistics.
In December 2025, new car registrations jumped 58.4% compared to December 2024, totaling 21,203 units. However, pure electric vehicles showed modest growth of just 1.4% compared to December 2024, reaching 1,354 units.
Dacia led the brand rankings with 6,796 units, followed by Renault with 2,638, Toyota with 1,704, Skoda with 1,148, and Hyundai with 1,122. Volkswagen, Ford, KGM, MG, and BMW completed the top 10.
The Dacia Duster topped the model rankings with 2,195 units, followed by Dacia Logan with 2,133 and Renault Clio with 1,405. Other popular models included Dacia Sandero, Dacia Bigster, Dacia Jogger, Toyota Corolla, Skoda Octavia, Hyundai Tucson, and Toyota RAV4.
