Romania's Government Private Cloud, the country's largest critical digital infrastructure, has entered operational stage nationwide.
The infrastructure spans four regional data centres in Bucharest, Timișoara, Brașov, and Sibiu, featuring 570 servers, 91 storage systems, and over 340 networking devices. The platform integrates automation and management solutions enabling secure and scalable digital service development suitable for critical national infrastructure.
Implementation was carried out by dozens of engineers and specialists working with the Special Telecommunications Service (STS). Ovidiu Ghiman, CEO of Metaminds, which implemented the Internal Cloud component with Trencadis Corp, said: "This project reflects our team's ability to implement complex solutions with a major impact on digital public services for citizens."
By June 2026, at least 30 government IT applications and systems will migrate to the cloud. The Authority for the Digitalization of Romania (ADR) and Ministry of Research, Innovation and Digitalization oversee the migration process.
The Government Private Cloud will enable more efficient data exchange between public institutions, allowing citizens faster and more secure access to online documents and services. For public administration, it will optimise costs by eliminating fragmented IT systems while providing a secure framework for nationwide digital service development.
