Romania's Competition Council has approved Sameday's acquisition of Cargus. Sameday, which introduced easybox delivery in Romania, announced the regulatory approval as a step toward finalising the transaction.

Both companies will now prepare the necessary documentation to complete the deal, with more details to be provided later.

"The Competition Council's approval confirms the direction in which Sameday is heading and marks the beginning of a new chapter for the courier market," said Lucian Băltaru, CEO of Sameday Group. "We see this step as an opportunity to build a stronger, more agile and sustainable operational structure, aligned with customer needs."

Both Sameday and Cargus offer domestic and international courier services, with flexible delivery solutions to home addresses or fixed pickup points. The approval represents a step toward improving service quality, optimising logistics capabilities, and creating a more competitive offering for customers.

Sameday operates in Romania, Hungary, and Bulgaria with over 6,000 employees and partners. The company runs approximately 8,000 easybox lockers, making it the largest locker network in the region.
