Eurostat: Romania among most affordable for arable land

In 2024, the average price of 1 hectare of arable land in the EU reached €15,224, reflecting a 6.1% increase from the previous year.

According to the latest Eurostat data, Romania remains significantly more affordable than the continental average, with 1 hectare costing €8,700.

Across the EU, Malta remains the most expensive market with prices hitting €201,263, while Latvia offers the lowest at €4,825 per hectare.

Regarding the rental market, the EU average for 1 hectare of arable land and permanent grassland rose to €295. The Netherlands recorded the highest annual rent at €941, followed by Denmark at €580. Conversely, the most budget-friendly rental rates were found in Slovakia at €69 and Croatia at €76.
