The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 5.5% in March 2025, a decrease of 0.1 percentage points compared to the previous year, according to data published by the National Institute of Statistics (INS).
The unemployment rate for men was 0.2 percentage points higher than that for women. The number of unemployed persons (aged 15-74 years) estimated for March was 453,100, down from the previous month (456,800 persons) and up from the same period of the previous year (439,100 persons).
By gender, the unemployment rate for men exceeded that for women by 0.2 percentage points (the rates being 5.6% for males and 5.4% for females).
The high level of youth unemployment (15-24 years), recorded at 26.3% in Q4 2024, remains a concern, according to the INS.
For adults (25-74 years), the unemployment rate was estimated at 4.3% in (4.4% for men and 4.2% for women).
The number of unemployed aged 25-74 represents 73.2% of the total number estimated for March.
