Engie Romania has doubled its renewable energy capacity to approximately 500 MW following the acquisition of a 253.1 MW wind farm in Ialomița county from Greenvolt Power.
The assets benefit from a Contract for Difference (CfD), providing long-term financial stability. The project includes 42 wind turbines and is scheduled to become fully operational in 2027, positioning it among Romania's largest wind farms.
Currently, Engie Romania operates three wind farms with a total capacity of 178 MW and six photovoltaic parks with an installed capacity of 70 MWp. With the integration of the Ialomița project, the company's total renewable production capacity reaches approximately 500 MW.
"With this acquisition, Engie continues to make progress in its development plans in Romania, doubling its installed renewable energy production capacity," says Cristian Buzan, Vice President of Engie Romania. Beyond the Ialomița project, the company has secured contracts for difference for two additional investments - a wind farm and a solar park - with a combined capacity of 224 MW. Together with the existing portfolio, these projects support Engie's objective to exceed 1 GW of installed renewable energy production and storage capacity in Romania by 2030.
