The Iulius Foundation has inaugurated Future Proof, the first exhibition in Romania showcasing the work of Foster + Partners, the architecture studio founded by Norman Foster.
The exhibition opened at the Palace of Culture in Iași and runs until May 3, 2026. It features 30 scale models and photographs of landmark projects spanning six decades of Foster + Partners' work across six continents. Projects are organised thematically rather than chronologically, exploring different dimensions of the practice's design philosophy through sections including Future Past, Future Place, Future Performance, and Space Architecture.
Stefan Behling, Head of Studio at Foster + Partners, said: "The themes that we explore in this exhibition reflect the core values underpinning our design ethos: learning from the past to embrace the challenges of the future, strengthening connections between people and places, and driving forward innovation to enhance performance." Maximilian Zielinski, Senior Partner Foster + Partners, added: "The exhibition highlights our approach, which has always been defined by a future-oriented commitment to innovation and responsible design."
The exhibition accompanies Foster + Partners' strategic partnership with Iulius on two major Romanian projects: remodelling the Palas mixed-use complex near the Palace of Culture in Iași, and developing a masterplan for 38 hectares of former industrial land in central Constanța. Iulian Dascălu, Founder of Iulius, said: "Architecture of the highest quality should not be a privilege only of the great Western metropolises. It can also be ours, it can reshape the way we live, work and relate to the public space."
The exhibition precedes the first edition of Tilia – Romanian Cities Summit, taking place April 23-24, 2026, in Iași. The summit expects over 300 participants including mayors, architects, urban planners, and civil society representatives to discuss development solutions for Romanian cities.
