IKEA Timișoara celebrates one year anniversary with over 4 million products sold

IKEA Timișoara marks one-year anniversary since opening its doors, celebrating a remarkable milestone in the company's mission to expand regionally and enhance accessibility to its products and services to the many people. The store, that opened on 8 June 2023 with an investment of over €60 million, welcomed more than 1 million visitors, giving them the opportunity to discover a wide range of the 9,500 home furnishing products with great design, functionality, and quality at affordable prices.

In the first 12 months, the store has sold over 4 million products, registered 792,223 sales transactions and over 35,500 online orders. Within first year of IKEA in Timișoara, more than 68.000 new IKEA Family members have registered, meaning that one in five residents of this city listed the brand as preferred home and deco store.

Nicoletta Muscinelli, Market Manager, IKEA Timișoara commented: “If I could summarize in a few words this first year: fantastic customer experience, impressive teamwork spirit and ongoing community engagement. I am very proud of what we have achieved: every day the store kept its promise and offered customers a seamless IKEA experience, easier access to the brand's most loved products, as well as in-store and online planning services that support customers in designing bespoke kitchens, bedrooms and bathrooms solutions for their homes. Looking forward to continuing this experience and to celebrate together with our customers this milestone.”

The customers also had the opportunity to enjoy the authentic Swedish dishes from the IKEA Restaurant, with an impressive number of over one million Swedish meatballs sold and over 300,000 hotdogs served.

Approximately 30,000 products received a new chance at life through the Circularity Hub, where customers that want to adopt a more sustainable way of living find everything from ex-display products and discontinued furniture through to preloved items.

IKEA Timișoara is the most sustainable IKEA store in Southeast Europe, combining sustainability standards in construction and operations with highly efficient e-commerce functionality. The store has implemented leading innovative and sustainable construction standards and operational business principles, in line with IKEA's ambitions to strive for zero waste, low carbon emissions, to be a good neighbor and a great place to work, as well as to become certified as a sustainable building according to BREEAM requirements.

One-year in-store celebrations

On Saturday 15th of June, IKEA Timișoara has planned a series of in-store activations for customers to mark this important celebration. Throughout the day, visitors will enjoy exclusive discounts for outdoor products, surprise gifts for the first 100 visitors and reduced-price items at the Circularity Hub. Families can capture memories at the photo booth with friends and family and engage in fun interactive wall activities, competitions, and face-painting for the little ones, while enjoying the Swedish delicacies in the IKEA restaurant. The celebrations will continue with IKEA Play Days Camp between June 20 and 22 of June.
