Simtel Team signs solar park deal with Verbund

Business Forum
Romanian engineering group Simtel Team has announced the signing of a major contract with Verbund Wind Power Romania, a subsidiary of the Verbund Group.

The contract, valued at €19 million (excluding VAT), covers the design, construction, and commissioning of a photovoltaic park with an installed capacity of 60.207 MWp.

The project, located in Casimcea, is part of a larger initiative to hybridise the existing CAS South 2 wind farm of 226 MW, which has been operated by Verbund since 2012.

Simtel Team will provide a full range of services under an EPC contract, delivering a turnkey solar power plant that will complement the existing wind farm infrastructure.

The works are scheduled to be completed over an estimated period of 15 months, followed by a 36-month performance guarantee period. The hybridization of the wind farm involves combining renewable generation technologies into a single infrastructure to increase the stability and predictability of energy output.

Solar energy is particularly effective at complementing wind power during periods of low wind, which optimises both grid usage and the overall return on investment.

This project is one of the most significant hybrid renewable energy projects currently underway in Romania.
