Hidroelectrica posts 122% profit surge in Q1 2026

Romanian energy giant Hidroelectrica recorded a net profit of €263 million in the first quarter of 2026, marking a 122% increase compared to same period last year, according to a report submitted to the BVB.

Revenues totalled €630 million, 67% above the level recorded in the same period last year, with an operating margin of 47% and a net margin of 42%. The company's supply portfolio included 1.31 million consumption points as of 31 March 2026, representing a 108% increase compared to 631,000 consumption points in the previous year.

"The portfolio evolution reflects the consolidation of the company's position in the competitive electricity supply market, based on the increased commercial attractiveness of offers and high interest from residential and non-residential clients," the company stated in its report.

In Q1 2026, Hidroelectrica recorded a 36% increase in net electricity production compared to the same period last year, reaching 3,608 GWh. The Danube's flow reached a normal level of approximately 6,900 cubic metres per second, above the level recorded in early 2025. Wholesale revenues increased by 85% compared to Q1 2025, while supply revenues grew 72% to €227 million.

Hidroelectrica is Romania's largest energy producer, with a 100% renewable energy portfolio and the main provider of technological services in the National Energy System.
