Energy producer OMV Petrom and RNV Infrastructure have announced that three wind projects in Romania, with a total installed capacity of approximately 300 MW, are entering the execution phase following the final investment decision. The projects hold the necessary permits, with production expected to begin in stages from H1 2027.

"At OMV Petrom our objective for 2030 is to have more than 2.5 GW of installed capacity in renewable power projects together with our partners," said Franck Neel, OMV Petrom Executive Board Member responsible for Gas & Power. "We are moving decisively from project phase to execution and production: we already have 70 MW in operation and over 1,100 MW under development."

The wind projects are part of a transaction closed in October 2024, through which OMV Petrom acquired a 50% stake in four wind projects developed by RNV Infrastructure through Electrocentrale Borzești. The three projects entering execution are the Gura Văii wind park in Bacău county (50 MW), the Podu Turcului wind park in Bacău county (100 MW), and the Poiana wind park in Galați county (155 MW).

A fourth project, the Galați wind park with 657 MW capacity, is awaiting its final investment decision. OMV Petrom currently operates 70 MW of renewable capacity and has over 1,100 MW under development across solar, wind and hydro projects.

The company aims to reach more than 2.5 GW of installed renewable capacity by 2030 as part of its commitment to achieve net zero operations by 2050.
