Romanian airline launches direct flight to Damascus

Business Forum
Dan Air, a private Romanian airline, inaugurated its regular flight service between Bucharest and Damascus on June 15, making it the first and only airline in the EU to operate direct commercial flights to the Syrian capital after a hiatus of several years.

Dan Air will operate the Bucharest-Damascus route four times a week using Airbus A320 aircraft with 180 seats.

"Syria has shown us that it can adapt very quickly to all requirements and standards imposed by European authorities regarding operation, and thus, we managed to make these flights possible," said Matt Ian David, CEO of Dan Air

Starting July 1, Dan Air will further expand its connections by operating flights between Damascus and Berlin, with a stopover in Bucharest, on Tuesdays and Fridays.

Established in 2017, Dan Air has transported over 4 million passengers to date and became a member of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) in 2024.
