Diehl Aviation starts investment in Craiova production facility

Business Forum
Diehl Aviation, a leading aviation industry supplier, has begun construction on a new production facility in Craiova, in response to increasing demand in the aviation sector.

The new plant, covering over 12,000 sqm of production and office space, will primarily produce components for commercial passenger aircraft, ensuring timely deliveries as production rates continue to climb.

The plant's completion is anticipated by mid-2026, and production is expected to commence shortly thereafter. Initially, the facility will employ approximately 75 staff, with plans to grow to around 500 employees in Romania in the medium term.

Craiova was chosen for its strategic advantages, including good infrastructure with direct access to major highways and Craiova International Airport, facilitating efficient logistics and connectivity.

Jörg Schuler, CEO of Diehl Aviation, said: "Our new facility in Craiova represents a strategic investment in Diehl Aviation's future. The combination of an excellent location, skilled talent, and strong local partners enables us to continue delivering high-quality and competitive products. ”

The company is investing a mid-double-digit million-euro amount in the new facility.

The Craiova site will collaborate closely with Diehl Aviation's existing operations in Hungary and Germany, enhancing operational flexibility and strengthening supply security across its global network. This expansion aims to meet the growing demands of the aviation sector by ensuring a more reliable and flexible supply chain, while also optimizing the company's cost structure for competitive pricing.

The construction project is being primarily planned and executed by Romanian company Global Vision.
