EDP reaches 570 MW of renewable capacities in Romania

Business Forum
EDP, through its subsidiary EDP Renewables, has opened its largest solar park in Romania, located in Albina, taking its total solar and wind capacities in the country to 570 MW.

The project features an installed capacity of 60 MWp (48.8 MWac) and is projected to generate approximately 67 GWh of solar energy annually, sufficient to power nearly 40,000 Romanian households. This output will also contribute to an annual reduction of over 33,000 tonnes of carbon emissions.

"We will continue to invest in the country, convinced that renewable energy is a key factor for economic development and energy security throughout the region," said Andrei Răpeanu, Country Manager of EDP in Romania

EDP's investments are aligned with Romania's updated climate objectives under the EU's Fit for 55 package, which aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 57% by 2030 compared to 1990 levels. The country also aims to achieve a 45% share of renewable energy in gross final energy consumption.
