Shareholders to vote on Hidroelectrica-EDF deal

Business Forum
State-owned power producer Hidroelectrica has convened an Extraordinary General Meeting of Shareholders (EGMS) for 27 January 2026 to approve a strategic partnership with EDF Power Solutions International for the development of the Tarnița-Lăpuștești Pumped-Storage Hydropower Plant (PSHPP).

The proposed deal involves the establishment of a joint venture company with equal 50%-50% shareholdings.
Beyond the EDF deal, shareholders are set to vote on several other significant expansion and maintenance objectives.

This includes the approval for legal advisory services to acquire the 300 MW Frasin-Pângărați PSHPP upon its commissioning. The plant is currently being developed by Hidro Blue Energy.

Furthermore, the shareholders will be informed of updated technical-economic indicators for major rehabilitations, including the Petrimanu, Jidoaia, and Lotru-Aval pumping stations, as well as the Gogoșu, Bradișor, and Stejaru hydropower plants.
