Penny Romania plans to invest €3 billion over a decade

Penny Romania announced its expansion plans, targeting 1,000 stores and a total investment of €3 billion over the next decade.

The company, which concluded 2024 with a turnover of over RON 9.4 billion (€1.8 billion), a 13.47% increase from the previous year, has been on a strong growth trajectory. 

In 2024, Penny invested over €177 million in Romania, focusing on expanding and modernizing its network to reach 416 stores and initiating the development of its fifth logistics center in Mihăilești.

This year, the retailer aims to open 40 new stores and deliver the Mihăilești logistics hub. 

“We have reached the threshold of 400 stores, we have opened the first Penny autonomous store at a global level and started the works for the fifth logistics center,” said Daniel Gross, CEO of Penny Romania 

Penny Romania is part of the German Rewe Group and has been operating in the Romanian market since 2005.

Penny opens €35 million logistics centre near Bucharest

Penny Romania retail chain has inaugurated its new logistics depot in Mihăilești, Giurgiu County, near Bucharest, marking a €35 million investment in sustainable infrastructure.
