Vodafone and Digi to finalize Telekom Romania Mobile deal

The Romanian Competition Council has conditionally approved the acquisition of Telekom Romania Mobile Communications by Vodafone Romania and Digi Romania.

As part of the deal, Vodafone Romania will acquire a significant portion of Telekom Romania's assets. This includes all employees, postpaid customers, business clients, the retail network, and technical network infrastructure. Concurrently, Digi Romania will acquire Telekom Romania Mobile Communications' prepaid business and customers, along with certain other assets.

Nedim Baytorun, CEO of Vodafone Romania, said: “We welcome the decision of the Competition Council to approve this transaction, which represents a landmark moment for the development of the local telecommunications market. Vodafone has been present in Romania for the past 28 years and the approval of this transaction will enable us to strengthen our position in a competitive market, reconfirming our promise to continue to invest in providing world class connectivity to Romanians. Our vision is to support consolidating Romania's position in Europe through innovation, digitalisation and technology”.

Vodafone operates networks in 15 countries, with investments in an additional five and partnerships in over 40 more. Vodafone also manages one of the world's largest IoT platforms, with over 215 million IoT connections.
