IT and transport lead salary increases in Romania

Business Forum
Bucharest and Cluj remain the hubs with the highest salaries, with a net average of RON 6,749 (€1,350) and RON 6,335 (€1,270), respectively, according to an analysis by the human resources company Prohuman APT.

In contrast, counties like Vrancea, Vâlcea, and Vaslui maintain an average salary of approximately RON 4,000 (€800) net per month.

These disparities are not limited to geographical differences. The job market is clearly divided between industries. Salaries for international truck drivers can reach RON 15,000 (€3,000) net per month, while in the white-collar sector, executive positions in IT and finance can exceed RON 35,000 (€7,000) net.

The technical sector also continues to offer attractive opportunities, even for those without a university degree, with salaries of RON 4,500 – RON 5,500 net for welders and CNC operators, and up to RON 8,000 (€1,600) net for electricians.

In the technology sector, an AI/ML Engineer can earn between RON 15,000 and RON 25,000 (€3,000 – €5,000) net, while a junior programmer starts at an average of €2,000 net per month.

Ionela Borșan, Recruitment Manager at Prohuman APT, said: ”In 2025, we did not observe a spectacular evolution in salaries. The increases were more of a necessary adjustment to keep up with inflation."

Sorina Donisa, CEO Prohuman APT, added: "The younger generations reject rigid work schedules and desire more autonomy and predictability. Companies that fail to adapt to these demands quickly lose their edge in attracting valuable candidates."

The duration of the recruitment process has increased, with a position remaining open for 4 to 6 weeks for blue-collar roles and up to 2-3 months for IT positions.
