Competition Councils approve Maspex-Purcari Wineries deal

Business Forum
Purcari Wineries announced a major step towards the completion of the voluntary public takeover bid by Maspex Romania, confirming that the economic concentration has received regulatory approval from key regional competition authorities.

The Competition Councils of Romania, Bulgaria, and the Republic of Moldova have granted their respective clearances, including the essential antitrust/merger control approval.

This authorisation allows for the transaction's completion, which will see Maspex Romania, part of Maspex Group, secure a majority position.

Following the subscription period, Maspex Romania acquired 71.17% of the company's issued share capital. This purchase brought the bidder's total stake in the company to 72.53% as of August 22.

The final regulatory hurdle remaining for the full implementation of the takeover is obtaining clearance from the Commission for the Examination of Foreign Direct Investments (CEISD) in Romania.

The notification to the CEISD was submitted by Maspex Romania on July 31.
