Romanian unemployment below EU average in October

In October 2025, the euro area seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 6.4%, stable compared with September 2025 and up from 6.3% in October 2024. The EU unemployment rate was 6.0% in October 2025, also stable compared with September 2025 and up from 5.8% in October 2024.

Based on the seasonally adjusted Eurostat data for October 2025, the unemployment rate in Romania stood at 5.9%. 

This figure places Romania below the EU average, which remained stable at 6.0% for the same month. Furthermore, Romania's unemployment rate is notably lower than the Euro area average, which recorded a level of 6.4% in October 2025. 

Compared to October 2024, Romania's unemployment rate registered a slight increase from 5.7% to 5.9%, while the EU average saw a rise from 5.8% to 6.0%. 

In absolute terms, 487,000 persons were unemployed in Romania in October 2025, out of a total of 13.351 million unemployed persons across the entire EU.
