Life Group sees 20% surge in dental visits in December

Business Forum
Millions of Romanians visited dental clinics across the country in December, with Life Group reporting a 20% increase in appointments compared to the same period in 2023.

The medical services chain, which operates Life Dental Spa and Vivo Dental clinics, attributes this surge to delayed treatments and increased demand from the diaspora.

Ștefan Obreja, CEO of Life Group, explained that bookings slowed in the second half of 2025 due to fiscal measures affecting Romanian incomes, causing patients to postpone treatment plans. "We were surprised to see a strong recovery towards the end of the year, and a significant increase is also due to Romanians living abroad," Obreja said. The company's 16 clinics worked throughout December to manage all appointments.

Romania has approximately 8,000 dental clinics and around 10,000 practicing dentists. The most common dental issues affecting patients include cavities, gingivitis, periodontitis, misaligned teeth, and procedures requiring dental implants.

Thousands of patients from Spain, Italy, Germany, the United Kingdom, and the United States visit Life Group clinics annually, particularly during holidays. Most diaspora patients seek professional cleanings and routine check-ups, though demand for complex procedures is growing, with medical services up to 80% more affordable in Romania than in Western countries.
