CNIR launches €80 million tender for express road to Otopeni Airport

Business Forum
The National Road Investment Company (CNIR) has submitted documentation to the National Public Procurement Agency for the tender of an Express Road connecting the A0 Bucharest North Motorway to the future Terminal 2 of Henri Coandă-Otopeni International Airport. The estimated investment value exceeds RON 400 million (€80 million).

"This 2.5-kilometre connection will reduce to just two minutes a journey that currently takes almost 20 minutes to cover a distance of 16-20 kilometres on the existing network," said Gabriel Budescu, General Director of CNIR. "The road connection will initially serve communities in the Tunari area, but is essential for the construction of Terminal 2 at Romania's most important airport. It will also facilitate freight transport to Otopeni Airport's cargo area."

The Express Road will be 2.55 kilometres long and include a cloverleaf junction with the A0 motorway, with a total ramp length of 7.5 kilometres.

The route runs through Ilfov County, Tunari administrative unit, branching off at kilometre 29 of the A0 Motorway. The project also includes a road connection to County Road 200 B Tunari-A0-Balotești through a roundabout.

The design and construction period is scheduled for 30 months.
