On Black Friday 2024, eMag customers ordered almost RON 900 million worth of products in a single day, and almost a quarter (24%) of all installment sales were made through flexible payment services, data from the online retailer showed in a press release.

According to the cited source, at the 14th edition of Black Friday at eMag, over 647,000 customers ordered 3.2 million products worth a total of RON 896 million, up 22% compared to last year, well above initial estimates of RON 800 million. Also, the 13,200 Marketplace sellers who had deals on offer at the event saw year-on-year sales up 30%. On sale day, November 8, a new record for customers activating a Genius subscription was reached - one million, with unlimited free shipping and exclusive offers.

"The wide variety of offers at the lowest prices of the year kept customers' shopping interest high throughout the day. This year's results confirm trends identified in recent surveys, which show that more and more consumers are preparing bigger budgets and even postponing some purchases to Black Friday to take advantage of the best deals of the year on both long-life and everyday necessities. Many customers have also taken advantage of the flexible payment solutions eMag offers, with 24% of sales made through MyWallet and other payment services offered by eMag partners," the release said.

During the shopping event with the biggest discounts of the year, more than 38% of customers who ordered on Black Friday had a Genius subscription with free shipping and exclusive offers. They put an average of 6.3 products in their baskets across a range of categories, from small appliances, home products, furniture, cosmetics to pet food.

At the same time, 73.35% of orders were paid by card online, while almost 24% of sales were paid via My Wallet or through the multiple credit solutions available (payment in four or six interest-free installments directly from the eMag account or up to 40 zero-interest installments with partner banks' credit cards).

Also, eight out of ten orders (81%) were placed at the locker in localities where the service is available, while special items ordered this year included 2,500 nights' accommodation, 4,000 airline vouchers, 19 cars, as well as 53 tons of pork and 2,300 health services.

Top product categories ordered included: Cosmetics, supplements and personal care (615,000), Beverages, groceries, pet food and cleaning (706,000), Toys and children's articles (399,000), Laptops, IT, office and stationery (144,000), TV, audio-video, gaming and books (98,000), Small household appliances (162,000), Fashion and sports (113,000) and Furniture & home (210,000).

According to the data centralized by the retailer, the customers who placed the largest orders in terms of value are from Bucharest, followed by Constanța, Dolj, Bihor and Giurgiu.
