Average net salary in Romania gains 7.6% by May 2025

The average net salary in Romania decreased by 2.5% to RON 5,508 (€1,109) in May, compared to April 2025, according to data from the National Institute of Statistics (INS). When compared to May 2024, the average net salary saw an increase of 7.6%.

In May 2025, the average gross salary was RON 9,187 (€1,851), which is 2.4% lower than the figure recorded in April 2025. The average net salary stood at RON 5,508 (€1,109), marking a decrease of 2.5% from April 2025.

The highest average net salaries were observed in the manufacture of coke oven products and refined petroleum products (RON 11,696 / €2,357) and in information technology service activities, including IT service activities (RON 11,558 / €2,330). 

The lowest average net salaries were reported in hotels and restaurants (RON 3,346 / €674) and in the manufacture of clothing (RON 3,440 / €693), according to INS.
