Over 27% of Romanians interested in buying heat pumps

Business Forum
Although heat pump technology for heating and cooling is increasingly present in public discussions, the actual level of knowledge and usage remains low in Romania, according to research conducted for the despre-energie.ro platform, a project by E.ON and Delgaz Grid companies.

Approximately 83% of respondents say they are not at all or only slightly familiar with heat pumps, and only 8.4% already have such a system installed in their home. This indicates a clear need for information and education about the benefits and operation of these technologies.

Among those who do not own a heat pump, 72.4% consider it unlikely or very unlikely to install one in the next year. However, approximately a quarter (27.6%) declare themselves probably or very probably interested in such an investment. Over half (53.6%) indicate high cost as the main obstacle in the purchase decision, while 34.9% mention lack of information and 11.5% consider installation too complex.

E.ON data shows that investment in a heat pump for a well-insulated house can vary between €8,000 and €15,000, depending on surface area and installation type. Most respondents (87.9%) estimate a budget between €10,000 and €15,000 for purchase and installation. However, only 11.4% would be willing to take out a loan for such a purchase, suggesting that non-reimbursable financial support or direct subsidies would be useful tools for stimulating demand.

Among those already using a heat pump, energy bill savings (39.8%) and energy independence (26.1%) are the main advantages mentioned. Other appreciated benefits are increased comfort (18.2%) and contribution to environmental protection (15.9%). The survey results indicate a market with growth potential, but also a major need for information and financial support to accelerate heat pump adoption in Romania.

Bucharest premium property prices double amid supply shortage

The premium residential market in Bucharest has experienced a price surge over the last few years, reaching record levels, particularly in sought-after areas such as Primăverii, Kiseleff, Aviatorilor, and Dorobanti. This trend results from a combination of factors influencing both supply and demand within this niche segment, according to an analysis by Cushman & Wakefield Echinox.
