Perla Harghitei, turnover up 20% in 2023 compared to 2022

Business Forum
Perla Harghitei, one of the most important natural mineral water bottling companies in Romania, recorded in 2023 a turnover of RON 151 million (equivalent to €30,5 million), up 20% compared to the previous year. The increase in the volume of units sold was 19%, according to the company's 2023 balance sheet.

The main reasons behind these results are the strengthening of the team in several key areas of the company, the improvement of operational processes, the focus of the commercial team and the strengthening of relationships with distribution partners. The new brand communication platform has also contributed to the increase of Perla Harghitei's brand awareness, which has risen in consumer preferences.

The company, which announced a multi-year investment plan of €40 million last summer, expects the sustained growth rate to continue into 2024.

"The signals coming from trading partners and consumers are encouraging. As a strategic priority, in the medium and long term, we aim to strengthen our responsible corporate governance style by optimising and digitising our activities and investing in technology. The end result we are aiming for is the responsible valorisation of this precious resource - natural mineral water," said Mihai Neagu, CEO Perla Harghitei.

Perla Harghitei, with its factory in Sâncrăieni (Harghita county), is the market leader in the category of natural mineral water bottled in returnable bottles and has the Perla Harghitei and Tiva Harghita brands in its portfolio.

According to the company's management, the returnable glass segment remains a strategic one, and Perla Harghitei intends to expand its distribution network and future operational investments. "For now the segment is small, but we are determined to contribute to the installation of new, more environmentally friendly consumption habits, while bringing more value to our consumers and customers," added Mihai Neagu.

Perla Harghitei will continue to invest in modernizing and making more efficient the systems for capturing, bottling and delivering the natural mineral waters in its portfolio, and is in the process of finalizing an investment of approximately €6 million in the water management station - an advanced technology for a more sustainable future.

The performance of the first two quarters of 2024 is positive compared to the same period last year, as the company continues its commercial strategy to keep Perla Harghitai at the top of the list of reliable partners for business.

Natural mineral water in the Lower Ciucului basin at the foot of the Harghita Mountains was discovered in the 1950s, the volcanic area offering significant resource potential. In 1974, the current factory was built in Sâncraieni (Harghita county) and began marketing water under the Perla Harghitei brand. Perla Harghitei, one of the main bottling and marketing companies of natural mineral water in Romania and leader in the category of natural mineral water bottled in returnable bottles, has in its portfolio the brands Perla Harghitei and Tiva Harghita, available to the consumer in still, carbo and light carbo versions, in all known distribution chains.

Perla Harghitei and Tiva Harghita are natural mineral waters, hydrogencarbonated, calcareous, sodic, magnesian, with a medium content of mineral salts, accessible to all categories of consumers and recommended for daily consumption.
