EBITDA increased by 16% to RON 46 million (almost €9 million), although the net profit for Q1 2025 was slightly lower than the same period last year, at RON 19 million (€3.7 million), due to the impact of the newly introduced turnover tax and decreased financial income.
In terms of revenue structure, the distribution and logistics business segments grew by 19% and 25%, respectively, while the transportation business segment experienced a 12% decline.
Revenue from its own brands increased by 35% compared to Q1 2024, exceeding RON 30 million (almost €6 million), with significant contributions from food and non-food products.
Aquila's CEO Cătălin Vasile stated: "An important strategic step was the completion of the acquisition of Kitax, one of the leading distribution companies in its field, with nationwide coverage in Hungary. Through this transaction, we have strengthened our position in existing markets and accessed a new international market, opening new growth opportunities. We maintain our ambitious goal of doubling EBITDA by the end of the 2026 financial year, focusing on operational efficiency, digitalization, and sustainability. Operational excellence and regional consolidation will remain at the core of our actions in the period ahead."
The company's gross margin from the sale of goods rose to 22.2% from 20.6% in Q1 2024, influenced by the product mix and focus on higher-performing channels.
Aquila has budgeted revenues of over RON 3.6 billion (€704 million) for 2025, projecting EBITDA to exceed RON 211 million (€41.2 million).
The company's investment budget for 2025 is over RON 150 million (€29.3 million), the highest since its listing, and will be allocated to fleet upgrades, logistics equipment, and automation.
