Business Forum
Rețele Electrice România, part of the PPC Group in Romania, has launched a public tender on the SEAP electronic public procurement platform for the purchase of power transformers, with an estimated maximum value of approximately €59 million (VAT excluded).

The transformers will be used in investment projects planned between 2025 and 2030. The tender has a total value of €58.18 million.

The company is seeking to purchase two types of transformers: three-phase power transformers for IT/MV and MV/MV.

This initiative is part of a broader investment plan aimed at modernizing the energy infrastructure, reducing technological losses, improving service quality, and increasing the grid's capacity to integrate renewable energy sources.

For 2025, Rețele Electrice România plans to invest more than RON 730 million (€147.2 million). The company will also continue projects funded by POIM and the Fund for Modernization in Banat, Dobrogea, and Muntenia South, with a total value of RON 1.4 billion (€282.2 million) for the 2026-2029 period. From this amount, RON 340 million (€68.5 million) will be financed entirely from the company's own funds.

Mihai Pește, General Manager of Rețele Electrice România, said: “The distribution network is continuously growing, consumption and production needs, digitalization, evolve and develop rapidly, stimulated by the energy transition. Our goal and role is to continuously improve, develop and expand the grid, so that our customers benefit from efficient and resilient services in the electricity supply.”

By the end of 2025, the company expects to have installed approximately 2 million smart meters, the highest volume for any electricity distribution operator in Romania. The company operates electricity networks with a total length of approximately 134,000 km across three regions, covering one-third of the local distribution market.
