ECDL and AOAR launch AI guide for Romanian SMEs

Business Forum
The GhidAI.ro platform, a joint effort by ECDL Romania – ICDL Certification and the Association of Romanian Businesspeople (AOAR), has been launched to provide entrepreneurs and managers with concrete solutions for digital transformation.

This initiative comes as a direct response to figures from the European Commission's Digital Decade 2025 – Country Report: Romania, which reveals that only 2.78% of Romanian SMEs utilise artificial intelligence applications, starkly contrasting with the EU average of 13.48%.

Furthermore, only 14.8% of Romanian SMEs use cloud services, and 21% engage in data analytics.

The guide offers a suite of free, practical resources tailored to the realities of SMEs, enabling them to understand and implement emerging technologies, starting with AI.

"GhidAI.ro is specifically designed for SMEs, to transform AI from an abstract concept into an accessible tool with real benefits. It's no longer about the future – AI is already part of today's competitiveness," stated representatives from ECDL Romania – ICDL Certification.

The platform offers a practical guide explaining AI integration into daily operations, concrete examples, and tech solutions adapted to the local market. It also includes a digital self-assessment questionnaire to help companies identify their current digitisation level and needs, along with personalised recommendations for responsible and efficient AI adoption.  All resources are 100% online, free, and user-friendly.

This initiative is particularly timely given the EU's AI Act, which, from February 2, 2025, mandates that all organisations developing or using AI systems ensure their employees possess the necessary competencies to work effectively and responsibly with these technologies.
