New €6 million ophthalmology hospital opens in Alba Iulia

Business Forum
The Dr. Holhoș network has inaugurated the largest private ophthalmology hospital in Transylvania, following an investment of approximately €6 million.

The new facility, located in Alba Iulia, is the largest project developed by the company to date.

The hospital includes 23 patient beds and four operating rooms. Initially, the hospital will focus on complex ophthalmic surgeries requiring hospitalization, including procedures like corneal transplants, for which it is currently securing authorization.

To date, the network has treated over 220,000 patients.

“The initial idea for a private hospital came from the need to perform eye surgeries requiring hospitalization, such as corneal transplants. Another reason was that, although we had reached a high level of expertise to handle complex cases, we lacked the infrastructure, the particular facilities only a hospital can offer. Later, as the project developed, we decided to build a broader facility housing multiple medical specialties,” says Dr. Teodor Holhoș.

The hospital also plans to expand its offerings to include 22 medical specialties over time, such as pediatrics, general surgery, orthopedics, and cardiology.
