New car registrations in Romania down 22% in H1 2025

New car registrations in Romania fell by 22% in H1 2025, reaching 64,339 units, compared to the same period last year, according to preliminary data published by the Association of Automobile Manufacturers and Importers (APIA).

Data from the General Directorate for Driving Licences and Vehicle Registration (DGPCI) shows that new car registrations in June saw a 50.1% decline compared to June 2024, totalling 10,522 units.

Furthermore, electric vehicle registrations recorded a 54.3% decrease compared to June 2024, achieving a market share of 4.1%.

In June, the top three car brands by registrations were Dacia, with 2,744 units, followed by Toyota (969) and Skoda (938).
