Romanian car sales drop 24% in February

New car registrations in Romania fell 24.4% in February 2026 compared to the same month last year, according to preliminary official data processed by the Association of Car Producers and Importers (APIA).

Dacia led the brand rankings with 1,685 cars, followed by Toyota (894), Skoda (865), Volkswagen (610) and Renault (583).

Electrified vehicles recorded a 3% decline compared to February 2025, according to the source.

However, pure electric cars showed growth of 35% compared to February 2025, while plug-in hybrid vehicles increased by 16%.
