Romania's air passenger traffic jumps 8.2% in nine months

Romania's air passenger traffic increased by 8.2% in the first nine months of 2025 compared to the same period in 2024, rising from 19.8 million to 21.4 million passengers, according to data from the National Institute of Statistics.

The main countries of origin for passengers arriving in Romania on scheduled flights were Italy (1.9 million passengers), the United Kingdom (1.4 million passengers), Germany (1.2 million passengers), Spain (884,499 passengers), and France (640,250 passengers). Turkey, Greece, Belgium, the Netherlands and Austria also featured among the top ten origin countries.

For departing passengers on scheduled flights, the most popular destinations were Italy (2.0 million passengers), the United Kingdom (1.4 million passengers), Germany (1.2 million passengers), Spain (892,084 passengers), and France (657,042 passengers). The remaining top destinations included Turkey, Greece, Belgium, the Netherlands and Austria.
