Romania to host additional US military assets

Business Forum
Romania is set to host additional US military assets following a high-level Supreme Council of National Defence (CSAT) decision.

The deployment includes refueling aircraft, monitoring systems, and satellite communication equipment, with the latter specifically intended to integrate with the Deveselu missile defence shield. The technical nature of the mission remains strictly defensive.

Romanian President Nicușor Dan said: ”I emphasise the fact that they are not equipped with actual weaponry. In technical terms, they are referred to as non-kinetic equipment. Provided that Parliament approves during the session scheduled for today, they will be deployed based on the partnership agreement between Romania and the United States.”

Dan noted that this collaboration aligns with similar arrangements currently being undertaken by other NATO allies. The deployment remains contingent on legislative approval, which prompted the immediate dispatch of an official request to Parliament for an afternoon debate.

The President said: ”I assure Romanians that they have no reason for concern. Their country is a safe country, in fact, even safer.”
