Romanian President Nicușor Dan on Friday nominated the interim leader of the National Liberal Party (PNL), Ilie Bolojan, for the position of PM.

Bolojan has previously held the position of Interim President.

"It is in Romania's interest that the government be supported by a robust majority, and this has been acknowledged by the political parties. Furthermore, it is in Romania's best interest that the political forces comprising the government's backing majority cooperate, and I am confident they will," said President Dan.

Bolojan served as Mayor of Oradea from 2008 to 2020 and as President of Bihor County Council from October 19, 2020, to January 1, 2025.

Since November 25, 2024, he has been the interim president of PNL.

Following the 2024 parliamentary elections, he secured a senator's mandate, and on December 23, 2024, he was elected President of the Senate.

Next, Bolojan will have to appoint ministers and secure the vote of the Parliament to start his mandate.
