Romania sees higher construction works in early 2025

Romania's volume of construction work increased in the first two months of the current year, with a 16.7% rise in the unadjusted series, and a 19.5% rise in the series adjusted for working days and seasonality versus 2024, according to data from the National Institute of Statistics (INS).

The volume of construction work rose overall by 16.7%, driven by increases in major repair work (+50.4%), new construction work (+15.5%), and routine maintenance and repair work (+2.8%). In terms of construction type, there were increases in residential buildings (+26.4%), civil engineering projects (+23.9%), and non-residential buildings (+0.7%).

In the series adjusted for the number of working days and seasonality, the volume of construction work increased by 19.5%, following increases in major repair work and current works by 47.3% and 21.8% respectively. 

Routine maintenance and repair work decreased by 3.5%. By construction type, increases were recorded in civil engineering projects (+27.4%), residential buildings (+18.6%), and non-residential buildings (+0.2%).
